The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow(Hindi: भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान, लखनऊ) (also referred to as IIM Lucknow or IIML), was established in 1984, by the Government of India, as a national level school of management science. It was the fourth Indian Institute of Management to be established in India after IIM Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Bangalore. It is situated at the outskirts of the city of Lucknow.

Campus

IIM Lucknow has become the first IIM to operate from two campuses. The PGDM, FPM and ABM courses are offered out of the original Lucknow campus, whereas the IPMX and WMP courses are offered from the newly opened NOIDA campus. The institute has computing and class-room facilities, supported by a library of books, journals, films, and databases. The PGDM, FPM, ABM and IPMX programmes are fully residential, whereas the WMP is a part-time programme targeted at working executives.
IIM Lucknow has a state of the art sports activity center called UMANG which includes several sports facilities such as swimming pool, basketball, badminton and tennis courts, a soccer-field, indoor-courts, pool and TT tables, etc. Each campus has its own gymnasium.
The Lucknow campus has total of 15 hostels with the hostel 16 under construction. Apart from the general hostels it has also has a separate hostel for FPM students.The NOIDA campus has separate bachelor and family hostels.
IIM Lucknow is also the mentor institution for Indian Institute of Management Kashipur.

Student activities

At the core of student Activities is "The Students' Council", an elected student body which plans and implements students' activities. Various committees and clubs carry out all the student related activities inside and outside the campus. The different Committees on campus are the Mess Committee, Alumni Committee, "Bhavishya" - The Social Initiatives Committee, IGFAB, Industry Interaction Committee, Media Relations Committee, Oculus, Special Interest Group in Finance, Student Exchange Committee, Synapse, Consulting and Strategy Club, "PRISM" - The Marketing committee etc. The cultural interests of students at IIM Lucknow are also catered to by the cultural clubs on campus like 3.4 (The Music Club), Random Walk (The Dance Club), Abhivyakti (The Dramatics Club) and Quizzing Commoners (The Quiz Club).

Annual Fests and Other Events

MANFEST

Manfest is IIM Lucknow’s 3 day Annual International Business Conclave. At a budget of INR 1.27 crores in 2010, it is the largest such festival across all IIM campuses. Manfest is held in the third week of January and brings together eminent industrialists, thought leaders and participants from various institutes. Manfest attracts the crème de la crème of B-school students and offered total prize money of INR 10.5 lakhs in 2010. Manfest Is divided into 4 major verticals: Leaders Express, Management Events, CSR and Beyond Business. Leaders Express is a platform for global thought leaders and students to come together with events such as panel discussions, talks, interviews and Anjuman - The Corporate Luncheon. Manfest 2010 featured 22 management events such as The Next CEO, Call for Arms - the battle of b-schools, Biz Quiz and Treatise - the Oxford style online debate with International participation. The CSR arm of Manfest is growing year-on-year, with the Lucknow Aids Awareness Run at Manfest 2010 attracting over 3000 participants. Other initiatives include Prerna – The Social Entrepreneurship awards and Dayitva - The Online CSR Strategy game that won high praise from Mr. S Ramadorai, Vice-Chairman, TCS. Beyond Business, the entertainment vertical is bigger and better with Bollywood Pronites hosting the likes of Kailash Kher, KK and Parikrama. It also features Hell Raiser – the semi-pro rock competition and many Informal engagements.

INDEX

Index an acronym for INformation through Disguised EXperimentation is the annual event of IIM Lucknow where students carry out market research for corporate clients at a fair held in Lucknow city. The USP of INDEX has been market research through disguised games designed to eliminate the sensitization effect that hampers conventional questionnaire based research. INDEX has been associated with the biggest names in the industry carrying out market research for P&G, HUL, J&J, Pepsi, Diageo and Citibank among others.

Ocumen

Ocumen the flagship event of Oculus, is a social initiative of bridging gap between schools across India and B-School by providing young impressionable minds an opportunity to get a taste of management fundamentals and associate them with lifetime mentors. It has been held since 2004-05 onwards.

Business Conclaves

Samvit – The Leaders’ Conclave

Samvit is the flagship event of the Industry Interaction Cell & IIML’s most important Business Conclave. Hosting some of the biggest names in the Indian Industry for a Panel Discussion followed by a personal interaction with the students, Samvit is IIML’s Leadership extravaganza. Samvit 2009 saw the country heads of JP Morgan, ABN AMRO, TI, Rediff and Genpact converge at IIM L. Attended by over 200 students Samvit hosts some of the biggest brands every year.

Anjuman – The Corporate Luncheon

Anjuman, another flagship event of the Industry Interaction Cell, is a corporate Luncheon held on the occasion of the Manfest. Anjuman boasts of an elite list of invitees with the 2010 edition seeing the country heads of Mercedes Benz, TCS, Citi, Bain and J&J. Organized by Industry Interaction Cell in association with Manfest, Anjuman is an indispensable event in the IIM Calendar.

Library


The Library at IIM Lucknow
Stocking over 60,000 select learning resources in the discipline of management and related areas, in a variety of formats and operating from a 30,000 sq ft (2,800 m2). building, offering a wide range of Information Technology (IT) based (and value added) services and products. The library also houses a full fledged audio visual lab and two conference rooms.

Pedagogy

The institute follows a variety of teaching methodologies including lecture method, interactive sessions, case based teaching, projects and assignments, management games etc.
